Immunohematology Diagnostic Platform
Micronics also is advancing manually-operated, non-instrumented, point of collection immunohematology assays. These tests make it possible to rapidly screen blood types.
ABORhCard®The ABORhCard is a fully-integrated, closed system, sample-to-result test being developed to provide both ABO and Rh blood type from a fingerstick blood sample. The test consists of a disposable, credit card sized device that contains anti-A, anti-B and anti-D antibodies printed into discrete microfluidic channels. A tube of buffer is included in the packaging for antibody re-hydration. Once the blood sample is applied, the test is performed with visible results in less than one minute
ABO-XM (Cross Match) Card
The ABO-XM card is a fully-integrated, closed system, sample-to-result test being developed to provide information about ABO compatibility between a transfusion recipient and a donor blood unit (“immediate-spin cross-match”). The test consists of a disposable device that will accept whole blood both from the recipient and the donor unit. A filter separates the plasma from the recipient sample, and the plasma is then mixed with the blood from the donor unit. An agglutination reaction indicates an incompatible unit for transfusion, while no agglutination reaction indicates a compatible cross match.
