Company Overview

Micronics, Inc. is one of the leading developers of near patient in vitro diagnostic products for disease diagnosis, prognosis and treatment monitoring. The Company employs a core patent estate in microfluidics -- the ability to miniaturize complex tests onto credit card size disposable devices. Tests that today take hours to days in a central laboratory environment are processed on a Micronics disposable device in seconds to minutes.

Micronics' business model has two core components:
  1. Enabling product development for others; and
  2. Advancement of Micronics own near patient point of care molecular tests for infectious disease diagnosis.

Micronics provides comprehensive development services to clients worldwide that bring complementary technologies and/or chemistries for incorporation into a disposable device. Micronics’ services include state-of-the-art rapid prototyping, reagent printing, ability to integrate MEMs, electrodes, arrays and membranes in the disposable, and conversion of prototypes to commercial systems. Client product applications include immunoassays, nucleic acid assays, as well as protein crystallography and DNA sequencing all on an integrated disposable device. Contact Us for additional information.

Micronics also is noted for its ability to eliminate sample pre-conditioning, which involves numerous and time-consuming steps typically handled by trained technicians in a laboratory setting. Applying its technologies and know how, Micronics is able to process a complete diagnostic test directly from a small volume of biological sample – including whole blood, urine, pharyngeal aspirate and feces – applied to a disposable device. The device processes the sample and secures the waste on board for ease of use and safe disposal.

Micronics is participating on a number of US and internationally funded projects for DoD, NIH, and others that require state-of-the-art assay miniaturization in a disposable device format. Micronics frequently is asked to provide its expertise in micro pumps and valving interface with macro instrumentation in support of grant applications. We are happy to work with clients in providing letters of support and co-authoring grant applications. Please Contact Us.

Micronics’ own point of care products are responsive to market demand today as well as emerging market needs. For the first time, the ability to combine cutting-edge nucleic acid assays, surface chemistries and microfluidic technologies coupled with global demand for solutions that address aging populations, escalating healthcare costs, and rapid spread of new disease strains and antibiotic resistant diseases, makes the introduction of near patient point-of-care molecular diagnostics not only possible but imperative.

Micronics has developed or obtained exclusive, worldwide license rights to 51 issued patents on the use of laminar flow diffusion in microchannels, microcytometry, and micro pumps and valves, and has over 100 pending patent applications. Micronics offers certain license rights to its technology. For further information about Micronics’ intellectual property portfolio and licensing strategy, please contact khedine@micronics.net.

Micronics serves as the commercial disposable device supplier on behalf of several clients, and in certain cases, as co-marketer or product distributor of products it is developing on behalf of others. The company aligns its OEM supply capabilities with established facilities that can comply with a product’s requirements for cGMP, ISO or other regulated processes. Additionally, Micronics partners with established engineering design/build firms, such as Stratos Product Development and Invetech Pty Ltd., in order to offer instrument solutions as needed.

Micronics sells the world’s first integrated, low-pulse pump station, called the microFlow™ System – and Active™ or Access™ single use disposable cards for researchers’ use in developing assays and analyzing fluids in flow. This small bench top system is ideal for miniaturizing samples and reagents, and optimizing micro-nano assays.

Micronics is privately held and is headquartered in the Redmond, Washington technology corridor, where it leases over 15,000 square feet of combined laboratory, clean room production, and office space.
