Albert A. Luderer, Ph.D.

Dr. Luderer has 30 years of experience in in vitro medical diagnostics, laboratory medicine and therapeutic development. Prior to joining BioTrove,  he served as Director, President and Chief Executive Officer of Light Sciences Corporation where he led the company's combined business, technical and commercial activities leading to the clinical development of the Litx™ therapeutic platform. Dr. Luderer formerly was President, Chief Operating Officer and a member of the global executive committee of bioMerieux, Inc., a world leader in in vitro diagnostics. During his tenure, Vitek II™ the first fully automated microbial identification and antibiotic susceptibility system was successfully developed and launched globally. Prior to bioMerieux, Dr. Luderer was Vice President of Business and Technology Development at Dianon systems (now Lab Corp) a leader in clinical and anatomic pathology services. From 1987 - 1993, Dr. Luderer was Director then Vice President of Technology Development and Support at Boehringer Mannheim Corporation (now Roche). Major systems successfully completed included the Accu-Check Advantage, Boehringer's first electrochemical-based blood glucose detection system. His original industry work experience was gained at Corning Inc's. Health and Science group where he played a key role in negotiating the joint venture diagnostic company Ciba Corning (now Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics). He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Drew University and an M.S. and Ph.D. from Rutgers University where he was a National Science Foundation pre-doctoral fellow. Dr. Luderer is on the Board of Agendia B.V. and Micronics, Inc. and is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Washington University's Department of Biomedical Engineering, St. Louis MO.
